In order to be an entrepreneur you must have the right state of mind, or as some would say… Being an entrepreneur is a state of mind.

A great example of this would be…

An entrepreneur sees what they want and does what ever it takes to get it… while non entrepreneurs see what prevents them from getting what they want and do nothing about it.

This is a crucial distinction and one that comes as second nature to those who are born with that entrepreneurial “gene”. That is not to say it can’t be learned, but I encourage you to take a step back and see how you respond the next time you see something you want, no matter how trivial it may be.

If when you do this you find yourself hesitating and thinking about all those roadblocks then I would encourage you to take an even bigger step back and look at Why you want the things in life you do.

Don’t’ know what your Why is… Then this is where you must start to being the journey down the path to be an entrepreneur…. or as Simon Sinek would say, “Start With Why.”

When people begin to follow you voluntarily this is when you know you are a leader. Often people get a Leader confused with a Boss or Manager, the difference being the later of the two you usually have to follow them whether you choose to or are inspired to do so.

So why should people bother to follow you? It is best if they choose to do so based on inspiration, which is one of only 2 ways to motivate people.

Manipulation and inspiration are the only two ways to motivate people.

Of course motivation by manipulation is typically easier because it uses “cheap” motivators like Fear to motivate people. As you may know people will always work harder to avoid pain than they will for the gain of pleasure.

While Manipulation may be easier and it does work it is a huge stress for both the buyer and seller and does not create loyalty in the long term, which is why inspiration will always win out!

Your message must be heard so that is has the chance to inspire people.

The best way to do this is to start with your why, however…

When done correctly your message will include your Why, How and What.

We are just focusing on starting with your why for the purpose of this article though.

Now I am not talking about money where, I am talking about a deeper Why, such as…

Why do you do what you do… what is your motivation, you calling, your purpose in life. This is the real motivator that will not only push you forward, this is what people will be inspired by and will make them volunteer to follow you!

Keep in mind that money is just s result and people will always be more inspired by you and your Why… your vision before they ever are by money.

Look at it this way, people will buy from you or follow your lead not because of what you do, but because of Why you do it.

To help you do this you must define why you exist and always be consistent with your what.

Being truly authentic is when you believe not only in the things you do but also why you do them!

Powerful things will happen to you when you surround yourself with people who believe in the same things you do.

Feeling like you belong is the most basic human desire, so again the goal is to work with people who believe what you believe.

This is when what you believe becomes the tangible proof of your why.

Leaders and those who lead… inspire because they want to not because they have to!

I was inspired to write this article after seeing Simon Sinek’s speech title, “Start With Why” Thanks for delivering a killer message and explaining “WHY” like I have never heard before!
